September 2012 Trip to Oregon

In a non-related boating adventure, Cindy and I just got back from a trip to Oregon. We started in Portland. We found Portland to be a remarkably friendly city that is very walkable and picturesque. From Portland we headed out to the Columbia River gorge and Mount Hood. We took off south to through the Cascade Mountains avoiding the fire in the Sisters area. Then came the highlight of the trip (as if the mountains weren’t): We drove Highway 101 from Florence to Astoria. The town of Cannon Beach was just beautiful. The coastal views were beyond words.

Our trip to Oregon came about because Cindy and I were listing of the states we have been to and Oregon was a void for both of us. I am truly glad we made the trip. Once being there, it is easy to see why people that live there put up with the rain. The state is quite simply spectacular.
