Due to the location of Grenada, it is considered a relatively safe spot during hurricane season (July-Nov) for cruising sailors wanting to return northward to the Caribbean islands the following season. Storms tend to pass north of this island. However, storms have hit this island hard in the past and sailors watch the weather daily whilst here.
